Our first event for 2019 is a free screening of the 2018 dark comedy ‘Sorry to Bother You’ written and directed by Boots Riley. Boots Riley is a musician and outspoken communist, best known from hip hop group “The Coup”.
The film follows a young African-American telemarketer who adopts a white accent to succeed at his job. Swept into a corporate conspiracy, he must choose between profit and joining his activist friends to organise labour.

As usual, this Canterbury Socialist Society event is free to attend. The film is R rated for pervasive language, sexual content, graphic nudity, and drug use.
